Editor’s Notes: Back in June Liam Gallagher teased a pair of adidas SPEZIAL sneakers at a show in London. Months later and adidas officially unveils the shoe in collaboration with Gallagher, referred to as the LG SPZL.

The limited edition sneaker serves to celebrate the musician’s lifelong relationship with adidas. Inspired by his affinity for the brand, the LG SPZL is scheduled to release ahead of Gallagher’s new album, Why Me? Why Not?, which arrives in September. Liam admits that he’s remained loyal to the Three Stripes since his first pair of adidas trainers that he says he wore religiously.

“I have known Liam for over 20 years and we have always got on. He is one of the people who has worn and supported what we do with adidas SPEZIAL since day one so this collaboration evolved organically.” explains adidas’ Gary Aspden. “He liked the silhouette of the Padiham SPZL on the whole but said he wanted it to look neutral and understated. This shoe became foundation for the LG SPZL.”

Aspden goes on to add that alongside Gallagher they tweaked the upper pattern of the SPEZIAL, as well as the tongue. He also reveals that Liam was considerably hands on during the design process, giving feedback on each sample.

“Right… Here it is my adidas LG SPZL collaboration. Absolute honor to have been asked to design and create such a Biblical trainer. Hope you like..LG x,” says Gallagher.

Liam Gallagher’s adidas LG SPZL is due out August 30.
