The 2019 VMAs were made for the internet. From Lizzo's colossal booty balloon to the moment Missy Elliott brought out a grown-up Alyson Stoner to recreate “Work It,” the ceremony was packed with meme-able moments.

While last night's proceedings lacked some of the scandalous moments of previous years, it more than made up for it in olympian choreography and acceptance speeches that ranged from the heartfelt to the absurd (FYI Lil Nas X brought a scroll when accepting his Song of the Year award).

Of course, everyone was holding out for Normani to take the stage after she dropped her epic ode to music video history. Needless to say, her “Motivation” performannce did its job and the internet is still reeling.

See how the internet reacted to this year's wildest and most hilarious moments below.

Lil Nas X delivered sartorially and comically

Taylor Swift may have cleaned up but John Travolta still didn't know who she was

Lizzo gave everyone the pep talk they needed to get to 2020

The whole internet was ready for Normani's “Motivation”

The VMA's might have been light on drama this year

But a Missy performance more than made up for it

And Alyson Stone coming out to dance for Missy was iconic
