Location: New York, NY
Season: Spring/Summer 2018
Key Pieces: Lightweight, oversized suiting came in versatile charcoal hues with cropped trousers. The schoolboy steez shone through in piped jackets and casual patch pockets. Wide-leg striped pants and shorts emit breezy vibes. Outerwear addicts will rejoice at a long varsity jacket and a collaborative Alpha Industries bomber with dropped shoulders made of lighter cotton. The showstoppers were definitely a satin resort shirt and souvenir jacket bearing Marilyn Monroe's likeness embroidered on the back.
Editor’s Notes: Designer Daisuke Obana takes menswear back to school for Spring/Summer 2018. Updating preppy suits and Ivy League-inspired blazers with a relaxed approach, the studied collection elevated collegiate style with a dose of modern street attitude.
Plenty of collaborations saw their way onto the runway, including jackets with Alpha Industries and a heavily-branded sweater with sportswear label Jerzees. N.HOOLYWOOD's upcoming footwear collabs include leather CVO plimsolls with Sperry Top-Sider and summer-appropriate slides by Suicoke.
Proving that tailoring truly never goes out of style, Obana also showed plenty of great suits that can be broken apart and worn as separates. The trousers are especially worth paying attention to, with a cropped hem and handsome thick cuff that allow the footwear below to really shine.
