Editor's Notes: It's been some journey for the 1906r since it first caught our eye with a thisisneverthat collaboration.

In the mere space of eight months, the model has been given the 'protection pack' treatment, seen collaborations with the likes of Auralee, Size?, and CDG, and now an Aimé Leon Dore-exclusive pair has been leaked — the latter revelation removing any smidge of doubt that the 1906r is the American label's next big hit.

A shoe that we can't remember previously seeing since 2009, the 1906r's comeback has been incredible but unsurprising: generating hype from vintage running models everyone had forgotten about is New Balance's specialty after all.

And it's got another 1906r drop lined up to rival all the ones listed above. A three-piece pack is set to drop, with the available colorways being: eclipse, burgundy, and silver metallic.

All three colorways have a mesh base and patent leather overlays that make the shoe's early-2000s runner routes plainly evident, but none more so that the silver metallic version.

As with all good Y2K running shoes, this model comes in a predominantly silver color scheme which is reminiscent of the thsisneverthat collab that first put the model on our radar. However, this time the shoe has been elevated with some bright blue detailing used across the sole and upper.

There's no shortage of sneakers fulfilling our nostalgia for old-school runners, with ASICS Sportstyle and Mizuno continuously dropping heaters from their archives, but that hasn't stopped the 1906r from flourishing. And with more collabs and drops being revealed by the minute, this looks to only be the beginning for the 1906r.
