How close can you get to a Bottega Veneta boot without forging a full-on collab? Timberland has the answer. Or, should I say, Timberland is the answer.

The Textured Premium 6-Inch boot is recognizable as Timberland's classic workwear boot silhouette, just wrapped in woven full-grain leather that bears a stark resemblance to Bottega Veneta's signature Intrecciato weaving pattern.

In fact, the "Olive" green Textured Premium Timberland boot embodies more of Bottega Veneta's well-woven structural power than Bottega Veneta's own attempt at a Timberland boot.

Unlike the Timberland Textured Premium boot which is woven all-over, Bottega Veneta's Haddock Ankle Boot, which is a Timberland boot in every sense but the literal one, only sports leather weaving at the shoe collar.

Elsewhere, Bottega Veneta’s Timberland boot abides by Timb’s unofficial code of honor with buttery nubuck leather.

That’s very little weaving compared to Timberland's own. (admittedly, we’re talking two separate classes of leather and craft.)

So Bottega Veneta made a Timberland boot, and Timberland made a Bottega Veneta boot, but the two have never officially collaborated?

It's certainly an ironic situation but even as separate entities, the two have left no well-woven stone unturned and that has to count for something.

And now available on the Timberland website for $275, this neutral Bottega-but-not-Bottega boot exists as a subtle reminder that some of the best collabs aren't even collabs at all.
