Vans' Knotty Skate Shoe-Boot Is Hot To Trot
Vans' Year of the Horse hits just keep on coming. Next out of the stable is one of Vans' most slept-on mid-rise silhouettes, the Half Cab, this time done up in nice leather to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
The Premium Half Cab Reissue 33 features a leather and suede upper with minimal embroidery at the heel, courtesy of contemporary Chinese artist Liu Bolin.
In addition to the multi-textured upper, the Half Cab also features pankou or frog-style closures at the top of the laces, likening the sneaker to a traditional Tang-style jacket. The Half Cab's mix of textures is reminiscent of Vans' Lunar New Year loafer, which features a mix of pony hair, suede, and leather.
Available on the BILLY's website for $85, the Half Cab joins a three-part collection of artistically sublime sneakers in collaboration with Bolin.
Vans Old Skool and Authentic sneakers make up the other two facets of the collection.
All of these sneakers feature artful tributes to the Lunar New Year, including horse illustrations and pankou laces. Wearable works of art are nothing new to the Vans program, but the horsepower that is fueling this collection is something different.
Suffice it to day, Vans has started the year with a total stampede of equine sneakers and confirms one all-important truth: Horse girls are so up right now.
