ASICS is best known for its running shoes, however, that didn’t stop it from reaching into its archives and teaming up with YMC for a mountaineering-inspired collaboration. Together, the two brands created two GEL-Lyte XT sneakers that mix quilted nylon and waterproof suede with rugged outsoles that will have you running up any mountain (not really). The GEL-Lyte XT sneaker is the model that kickstarted ASICS’ running revolution and has since spawned several highly-popular styles, such as the GEL-Lyte III and GEL-Lyte V.
The GEL-Lyte XT comes in two colorways, and is part of a collection that comprises a range of apparel to boot. The first colorway is an eye-catching purple and teal offering, while the second is a more muted tan and brown. A set of co-branded T-Shirts and socks, both of which mirror the sneaker’s two colorways dropped alongside the sneaker.
YMC, which stands for You Must Create, is a London-based brand that focuses on understated and timeless designs, something which is reflected in the collaboration with ASICS. The no-frills GEL-Lyte XT collab, which also includes the range of apparel, released on October 22 at ASICS and various retailers and is still available to shop now. Highsnobiety took time out to take a detailed look at the two sneakers, which you can scroll through below.
