WHO

Atlanta rapper Gunna’s rise through the echelons of hip-hop can in part be credited to his affiliation with Atlanta MC and personal friend Young Thug, along with the electric chemistry he shares with fellow rapper Lil Baby. The rap-duo’s undeniable, on-point flow has been compared to the successful pairings of Outkast and Rich Gang, garnering millions of streams on SoundCloud and YouTube.

After featuring on Young Thug’s track “Floyd Mayweather” in 2016, alongside rap superstars Travis Scott and Gucci Mane, he was signed to Thug’s Young Stoner Life / Young Slime Life Records (YSL).

Later that year Gunna released the well-received Drip Season mixtape, with Drip Season 2 and 3 following shortly after, featuring Young Thug, NAV, Lil Baby and Lil Uzi Vert.

That same year his joint mixtape release Drip Harder with Lil Baby dropped with tracks landing them in the Hot 100 and rap charts, and he also provided vocals for Travis Scott’s “Yosemite,” making an appearance in Scott’s Nabil-directed video.

Off the back of this Gunna readied his debut studio album Drip or Drown 2, which was released through YSL Records with guest appearances from Young Thug, Lil Baby, and Playboi Carti in 2019.

Not unlike many of his peers, Gunna’s affinity for footwear and fashion is a big part of the rapper’s image, often name-dropping brands in his lyrics, and he turned some heads showcasing his impressive, diamond-strewn jewelry collection in a feature for GQ’s “On The Rocks.”
