It was back in October that a visibly emotional Jay Z announced he’d be teaming up with Spike TV for a six-part documentary series chronicling the tragic story of Kalief Browder — the wrongly imprisoned teenager who took his own life after having struggled with mental illness upon re-entering the real world three years later.

Now, a trailer has emerged giving us a first look at the gut-wrenching — yet utterly vital — series. Featured is a series of first-person accounts, dramatic reenactments of key moments in Broder’s life, archival footage and interviews with family members and close friends.

A synopsis of the series alluded that the “first two episodes [will take an] in-depth, humanizing look at a broken justice system.”

Watch the trailer above, and look out for Time: The Kalief Browder Story debuting in January.
