Amsterdam-based designer Germans Ermičs payed homage to iconic Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata during Milan Design Week by presenting a new Ombré Chair.
In looking to Kuramata’s Glass Chair of 1976, which was inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, the chair is highlighted by colorful panes bonded without screws. Comparatively, Kuramata’s original design was intended to give the appearance of floating on air and ultimately designed to be more fitting for the film.
Ermičs’s Ombré design can in turn be currently seen at Spazio Rossana Orlandi.
