Life beyond style

Following a short film on professional surfer Nikki van Dijk, photographer Chris Wilson is back again with another documentary — this time on model/surfer Josie Prendergast.

Josie was born on a small island in the Philippines called Siargao, before she and her family moved to Byron Bay, Australia at the age of four. The film shows Josie explaining how her dad taught her and her brothers to surf, her love of living by the beach, and her plans for the future once she’s finished her final year at school.

The short film was shot in Byron Bay as she surfs the world-famous surf break of “The Pass,” which just so happens to be her local spot.

Watch the video above to see Josie discuss her childhood, surfing history, her first trip to Panama, her local surf spots, and her thoughts on competitive and free surfing.

In other news, here’s how 19-year-old upcoming designer Maya Reik starts her day.
