Tuesday’s Apple keynote event marked the unveiling of the iPhone X, the 10th anniversary edition of the company’s beloved smartphone. At the close of the presentation, Apple revealed that the iPhone X would be fitted with Face ID, a security feature enabling users to unlock their phones with facial recognition technology.
The first on-stage demonstration of Face ID didn’t work, adding to the internet’s general skepticism of allowing a large tech company to have access to our faces. Aside from being an incredibly creepy feature, Mashable’s tech correspondent notes that it’s a potential security nightmare.
