adidas' Ghostly Runner Makes Magic With a Single Gorgeous Tone
Move over, New Balance. Miu Miu has a new (unofficial) sneaker playmate: adidas. The adidas Ghost Sprint sneaker is the wearable embodiment of the Miu Miu-ification of sneakers that's not slowing down anytime soon.
Now this isn't an actual collab, of course, but that does not negate the striking resemblance between the adidas Ghost Sprint and the many, many Miu Miu moments taking over the sneaker space right now.
Despite looking like the new-to-the-scene Miu Miu sneakers, the adidas Ghost Sprint isn't new. First released in the mid-2000s, the Ghost Sprint is a slim runner with a molded suede upper and a rubber outsole that reflects the sneaker's minimalist design.
Couple that with its tonal Three Stripes and cream-hued laces, and voilà, you get a tonal take on one of adidas' most slept-on sprinter silhouettes. It just so happens that it looks like it came straight out of Miu Miu HQ.
This might not be anything near an official collab, but the shoe’s resemblance to the New Balance x Miu Miu 530 sneaker and Miu Miu’s own Tyre sneaker is undeniable.
But it's not just adidas getting in on this action. There’s the luxed-up Dries Van Noten suede sneaker, and the semi-unexpected Vans Super LowPro. Marc Jacobs' Suede 72 Spring sneaker fits right in with this Miu Miu-ified sneaker family.
Of course, there’s also New Balance’s many Miu Miu inspired sneakers like the pinked-out 204L or the trail-licious NB MT10.
The Miu Miu x New Balance sneakers might not fit the typical definitions of a dad shoe — but they definitely have sons.
In essence, the Ghost Sprint sneaker is the closest manifestation we have of what an adidas x Miu Miu collab would look like should the two worlds ever meet. I mean, crazier things have and continue to happen.
