Editor's Notes: Welp. Yet again, it's time to hold our hands sky high and admit that ASICS has got us firmly in a chokehold.

Where I once found myself chasing hot at the heels of every AJ1 and 4 that Jordan Brand had to offer, keeping tabs on whichever 90s banger Nike had decided to revive, and eyeballing the latest UltraBOOST from Three Stripes, New Balance and ASICS have quickly overtaken.

With Teddy Santis turning the heat up to maximum with every Made in USA (and UK) release, while Kiko Kostadinov does the same for ASICS' Sportstyle department, we've entered a new era.

Rarely does a week pass without ending up fixated on something new to fall from ASICS' extensive archive. From the GEL-Sonoma 15/50 GTX, GEL-Preleus, HS3-S GEL-Nandi SP V, UB2-S-GEL-1130, and super dialed-back GEL-1090v2, the options feel endless.

Next in line is a returning classic, the GEL-Kayano 14. Perhaps the most storied sneaker series within ASICS' long history, the GEL-Kayano is renowned for its early 2000s aesthetic and high-performance qualities, all of which have been maintained and evolved for its return this summer.

Updated in a three-piece palette of seasonally appropriate pastels, the GEL-Kayano 14 is leveled up to its absolute best. For the first of the three, the sneaker takes on an almost linen coloring dubbed "Birch/Clay Grey," which offers a balanced contrast to its minty "Light Sage/Smoke Grey" finish.

The final, and my personal favorite, of the three, muted purple tones wrap themselves around the silhouette to build the "Barely Rose/Cream" – a look that's unlikely to stick around for long.
