Architecture firm D-Associates envisioned a home away from home for an extended Indonesian family in Sanur, one of the most iconic Southern Balinese settlements and a popular tourist haven.

The two-storey villa is separated into two volumes: an upper level comprised of a floating wooden box and a lower level where family living activities take place. The heavy tones of dark-colored timber and plywood finishing on the upper volume are mitigated by hinged panels that allow tropical sunlight to permeate the interior.

Round concrete columns and floor-to-ceiling glass windows are introduced downstairs, where a pool awaits on the other side.
