New Instagram filters won't be dropping anytime soon. This is after Spark AR — the Facebook-owned software that allows users to create AR effects — announced that it has sent its reviewers home.

"In response to COVID-19, we are working with our partners globally to send Spark AR reviewers home, for their health and the health of their communities. As a result, effects submitted to Facebook and Instagram will not be approved or published until further notice," the studio posted on its Facebook community.

But that doesn't mean a complete shut down of its services. Spark AR still encourages creators to submit effects and updates. They will, however, be reviewed and validated at a later date. The platform has also advised to check in regularly on their page for further updates.
