The artist formerly known as Jay Z has had a very active few days. He's celebrating having twins with his wife Beyoncé, been inducted into the songwriting hall of fame by Barack Obama, and announced that his next album, 4:44, will release on his streaming platform TIDAL on June 30 alongside an accompanying film. And now he's changed his name (again). Say hello to JAY-Z.
Pitchfork have had it confirmed by a Roc Nation representative that Jay Z is now going by a newly stylized variation of his name: JAY-Z. Whilst the all-caps is a new orientation, the hyphen had been a staple of his moniker since before his 1995 studio debut Reasonable Doubt until removing it on Magna Carta Holy Grail in 2013.
