Kanye West is one step closer to producing his YEEZY goods in the United States. In a new interview with Cody Enterprise, West revealed that he hopes to begin YEEZY production in Cody, Wyoming by the end of 2020.

Kanye purchased a 4,524-acre Wyoming property in 2019 to bring his company to the area. “I love it here,” he said. According to Cody Enterprise, West will first focus on manufacturing footwear at a sample and prototype laboratory in Cody, which is expected to be staffed in the next one to two months.

As it stands, no other large-scale apparel and footwear manufacturing exists in the region. West and YEEZY will in turn be creating a number of job openings, many of which are entry-level with highly specialized training provided. Design and prototyping jobs will also be offered to produce YEEZY Gap apparel, in addition to assembly line positions.

Kanye's YEEZY Gap goods will be sold at price points more in line with standard Gap products. The partnership does not include footwear, leaving West free to continue his efforts with adidas. YEEZY Gap apparel will be available online and in stores, as West plans to open his own retail locations, one of which is confirmed for Cody.

In speaking on his new partnership with Gap, Ye told Cody Enterprise, “I loved folding clothes at the Gap too, that was an aspirational job for me. When everybody in my school was wearing oversized clothes, I was ‘gapped’ out. That was always my style.”
