Last month, Frank Ocean's sophomore album Blonde was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (R.I.A.A.). Rather than emerge in the public eye to pick it up himself, Ocean beckoned his mother, Katonya Breaux to collect the plaque in his honor. Breaux documented the historical moment on her personal Instagram account which we highly recommend following because she is very entertaining. Since the record was released in 2016, it has racked up over one million sales.
This isn't the first time that Breaux has been publicly visible for one of Ocean's life-changing achievements. Back in 2016, she accompanied her eldest son to the White House state dinner when the Obama administration still held office (which she posted about here). She has also been by his side for Paris Fashion Week and other special occasions like the Time 100 Gala.
For those that aren't aware, Breaux is the owner and founder of the skincare brand Unsun Cosmetics. Her youngest son, Ryan previously starred in one of the commercials for the sunscreen which featured Ocean's 2012 song "Lost."
In other news, Stefflon Don's 'Secure' mixtape is out now. Get all the details right here.
