Earlier this year, Macklemore and producing partner Ryan Lewis released their sophomore album This Unruly Mess I've Made. Now Macklemore has surprise-dropped a new standalone single, his first since the album launch and first without Lewis. The song is titled "Drug Dealer," and it arrives with a haunting visual accompanying its release.

The video depicts the rapper going through withdrawal symptoms, filmed almost entirely in extreme close-up in a darkened room. Macklemore has a history of substance abuse, so his performance in the visual is not entirely unfounded. These intense images are intercut with shots of featured guest artist Ariana Deboo delivering the song's chorus while drowning in prescription pills.

Though upon first listen it may seem that the track is about any sort of drug use, it is clear that the rapper is tackling the pharmaceutical industry head-on. The chorus references this aspect directly, and points to all the shady dealings behind America's medical 'racket.'

Stay tuned for any further release information from Macklemore. Stream this year's This Unruly Mess I've Made below via Spotify:
