Moncler

On February 20, 2019, Moncler unveiled the second edition of the Moncler Genius program at a former train depot below Milan’s historic Centrale Station. Under the motto “One House. Different Voices”, the ambitious project continued for a second year, giving selected designers the opportunity to reinterpret Moncler’s identity in a collaborative, limited collection. Among the nine collections on display were sequel collaborations with Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Fragment Design’s Hiroshi Fujiwara, but perhaps the most anticipated was the debut collaborative collection with 1017 ALYX 9SM’s Matthew Williams.

Almost a year on, the long-awaited 6 MONCLER 1017 ALYX 9SM collection released last week and to celebrate, Moncler and 1017 ALYX 9SM returned to the city to host an exclusive cocktail-party-cum-launch-event at the House of Genius store.

Taking place during Milan Fashion Week Men’s, the local fashion crowd and fashion-week goers took a break from running from show to show, and filtered off the dark streets into the atmospherically lit store in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The new collection draws inspiration from both brands' environs – the metropolis and the mountain – and the store was transformed to reflect that with glowing red lights illuminating scaffolding-lined walls, on which rested mannequins wearing classic puffers, insulated parkas, technical pants, and buckled-adorned accessories.

Sofie Royer took over the decks for the evening while guests perused the collection, admiring Wiliam’s modern take on Moncler's technical craftsmanship. For the occasion, Williams and Remo Ruffini, Moncler's chairman and CEO, both made an appearance at the event alongside notable names including Evan Mock, Alton Mason, Aleali May, and Rickey Thompson.

The 6 MONCLER 1017 ALYX 9SM collection is available now and will be on display at the Moncler House of Genius in Milan and Paris until January 31.
