Moncler’s latest rollout from its multi-brand collaborative Genius project is, well, genius. Following link-ups with Palm Angels and Simone Rocher, the iconic Italian skiwear manufacturer has tapped Maison Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli for a collection of otherworldly outerwear.
Piccioli has leaned into his high-fashion background on this collection of couture-esque padded zip-up hooded capes and skirts, complete with padded spats and gloves for full body coverage. The towering A-line silhouettes might appear to be from an alien world, but they are, in essence, pure Moncler. The padding is made using basic down-filled nylon (referencing Moncler’s preference for simplicity) and the items arrive in a palette of ivory, black, amethyst, imperial yellow, bright green, orange, red, and cherry red, with the intention being to mix rather than to match.
Piccioli describes the collaboration as the “uttermost expression of my taste and a very personal effort,” and with this hauntingly beautiful outerwear collection, he has innovated with a classic luxury brand to create one of the most impressive (and slightly intimidating) silhouettes of the season. Check out the collection in the gallery above.
