Netflix has given us a first look at its new documentary on Michelle Obama, titled Becoming. The original picture comes from the Obama's production company, Higher Ground, which has an exclusive deal with the streaming service.

Becoming will pull back the curtains on the life of Michelle Obama, the former First Lady who spent over eight years in the White House. Viewers will go behind the scenes with the 56-year-old lawyer and author, getting an up-close look at her life as she set out on a 34-date tour in support of her New York Times Best Seller, Becoming.

"Those months I spent traveling — meeting and connecting with people in cities across the globe — drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with," Obama said. "In groups large and small, young and old, unique and united, we came together and shared stories, filling those spaces with our joys, worries, and dreams. We processed the past and imagined a better future. In talking about the idea of ‘becoming,’ many of us dared to say our hopes out loud."

Directed by Nadia Hallgren, Netflix's Michelle Obama documentary, Becoming, releases May 6. You can watch the trailer below.
