Nike’s all-new Dn8 Air Max has been everywhere in the past four months, except for on shop floors.

On Instagram, the Nike sneaker is on the feet of stylish creatives; courtside at an NBA game, Central Cee is wearing them; and at Art Basel, artist Slawn was spotted in a pair. Not to forget the numerous colorways leaked online during the final months of 2024.

It’s been a lengthy teasing period for Nike and its most advanced Air Max to date. But now, finally, the sneaker is set to arrive and Nike has given us an insight into the tech behind the futuristic-looking design.

For the first time, Nike’s Dynamic Air technology (introduced last year on the Air Max Dn) extends across the full length of the Air Max Dn8. That means the entire midsole is peppered with Nike’s signature air bubbles — talk about walking on air.

At the rear and at the front, the air units are more highly pressurized than toward the middle of the foot, optimizing the cushioning and energy response from the air tubes.

“For the Dn8, we wanted to be lower to the ground. We wanted to feel more Air. We wanted to improve transition,” says Jonathan Kosenick, lead designer of men’s sportswear for Nike about this new-look sole unit.

“All of those goals led us to design the shoe with eight Air chambers directly in contact with the ground, which allows the chambers to more effectively compress and be way more flexible, delivering a much bouncier, springier sensation.”

The first Air Max Dn8 to land online is a bold hyper-pink colorway available from February 6. Then, a month later on March 6, comes the red colorway leaked online toward the end of last year.

After that, Nike will undoubtedly unleash all the other colorways circulating online: that simple beige iteration, the “panda” ones, the all-white with yellow bubbles… you’re about to be seeing a lot more of Nike’s techy new Air Max.
