As predicted, the 2019 Oscars ceremony was steeped in controversy with Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman losing out to Green Book for Best Picture.

Another disappointed Hollywood giant was Glenn Close, whose seventh nomination and loss meant she has had the most unsuccessful nominations of any living actor. The internet couldn't stay disappointed for long, however, with Olivia Colman delivering a charmingly British acceptance speech as she picked up her statuette for Best Actress.

Lady Gaga was the most tweeted-about celebrity of the night. Although she missed out on Best Actress, she won Best Song for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born. Gaga and costar Bradley Cooper also performed the hit song in a duet that will go down in Oscars history.
