Packer is gearing up for a new collaboration with Reebok, one that seemingly references a sneaker from a completely different brand. As the retailer's brand director and buyer Victor Kan has taken to Instagram to give us our first look at the Packer x Reebok Answer 4, we see clear inspiration pointing to the Prada America's Cup.

The America's Cup is a performance sailing sneaker from the late '90s that has since gone on to become an everyday favorite among streetwear heads and high fashion aficionados alike. As one of the signature colorways combines silver mesh with navy leather, we in turn see a similar composition on Packer's Reebok Answer 4 collab. In addition to utilizing the color scheme and materials, the Answer 4 also incorporates a red zip detail mimicking the red tongue strip of the silver and navy America's Cup.

The Answer 4 and the America's Cup debuted within a few years of one another, with the former arriving in 2000 and the latter in 1997. As last year marked the 20th anniversary of the Answer 4, hype surrounding the Allen Iverson signature has been renewed and carried over into 2021. Some are already likening Packer's Answer 4 collab to the standout "Georgetown" colorway of the sneaker, yet either way, the America's Cup inspiration is undeniable.

According to Packer's Victor Kan, the Answer 4 will release sometime in Fall/Winter 2021. Be sure to check back with us for more details in the weeks and months ahead, and in the meantime, delve into the history of Prada sneakers here.
