Brand: Pestle & Mortar Clothing x KFC
Key Pieces: Like Mamy Cupy before them, PMC gives a nod to KFC’s legacy with an interpretation of the bucket hat boasting the company’s iconic white and red stripes. The reversible hat can also be worn inside-out, revealing an all-over “Spicy” chicken print on the other side.
Release Date: September 5, 2019
Editor’s Notes: If streetwear has thrived on the sheer banality with which it draws from culture, perhaps no collaboration does it more justice than the steady stream of KFC capsules that have popped up lately. In the latest installment, Malaysian streetwear powerhouse Pestle & Mortar Clothing has given a fresh flavorful twist to KFC’s 11 secret herbs and spices with “11 Finger-Lickin’ Good Goods.”
PMC brings their signature flair to a brand beloved by Malaysians, while also paying homage to the thriving local streetwear scene. The PMC x KFC collection reinterprets signature streetwear staples with playful graphic KFC elements. For instance, the bowling shirt in slide #3 features an all-over print of Colonel Sanders, the KFC logo and various items off the menu, while the tee in slide #4 features the Colonel with the playful “Atuk” nickname.
