Upcoming Chinese footwear brand Purlicue has unveiled its range of leather-wrapped sneakers for Spring 2016. Turning the notion of traditional sneaker design on its head, these sneakers - which include low-top and laceless chukka silhouettes - feature total leather construction, extending to each pair's sole. Using calf leathers and sheepskin linings, Purlicue shoes adopt calfskin soles, which encase ones made of rubber. As each sole accumulates wear over time, the rubber is deliberately exposed and can be concealed once again by adding a new leather unit.

Su Junhua, the exciting designer behind the emerging brand, has been profiled in Opening Ceremony's "Year of China" spotlight, which can be read in brief on the brand's website.
