Ever wonder how stunt performers pull off death-defying stunts without getting hurt? It turns out it's all down to padding. In the above video, professional stuntman Rustic Bodomov shares his "stunt bag" filled with more types of padding than you ever thought existed and breaks down what he needs for a day on the job.
There are butt pads, a "gatorback" back pad and something called a bouldering pad, alongside the regular elbow and knee pads that Bodomov suggests those new to stunts should begin with.
Bodomov explains that stunt performers need slimline pads which are undetectable under their clothes. The problem for many women, however, is that their costumes often don't involve long-sleeves — leaving fewer places to hide them. As a workaround, women instead wear specially-designed "skin sleeves" to help mask the pads and fool the viewer.
Bodomov also conducted a reddit AMA where he explained how he first got into stunt performing and answered questions on his worst injury, how much he gets paid per shoot and what his everyday workout is.
