What We’re Saying: UNDEFEATED and Nike are continuing their collaborative efforts with yet another release celebrating the late Kobe Bryant. While two pairs reference the 1996 NBA Draft when Bryant was picked 13th overall, the third iteration of the Kobe 5 Protro looks ahead to his Hall of Fame induction. Following an initial launch through UNDEFEATED, the coveted pair will be available once again on Saturday, May 15 at 10 a.m. through Nike SNKRS.
A nod to Kobe's Hall of Fame honor, the Kobe 5 Protro boasts a gold-colored textured upper, with mesh toe boxes and side paneling. Scaly overlays have been applied, in addition to crimson and red Swooshes. In the middle of the Swoosh branding you will find the numbers 24, 10, and 8, referencing Kobe's jerseys worn for the Los Angeles Lakers and Team USA. The tongues and heels bear Bryant's Mamba logo and UNDEFEATED's five strike insignia, while the insole lists out Kobe's various accomplishments.
The "Hall of Fame" UNDEFEATED x Nike Kobe 5 Protro was first teased in August of last year, and now, it's finally here. The long-awaited sneaker, which to no surprise is in incredibly high demand, arrives first at UNDEFEATED on May 12, ahead of Kobe's induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on May 14. A wider release is slated for Nike SNKRS on May 15.
