With the extravagant Met Gala taking place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, the most prestigious fashion event of the year will be filled with the biggest names in the industry, ranging from celebrities, models, designers, musicians, and more.
Newly appointed menswear artistic director of Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh, was one of the mega-celebs gracing the star-studded event, debuting a new colorway for his hyped Nike Air Jordan sneakers alongside an all-white suit, one of the first pieces he’s unveiled from the house. Befitting a designer who’s on top of the world right now, Abloh turned up to the Gala with none other than Kendall Jenner as his date.
Abloh took a particular look developed for his inaugural LV Men’s atelier runway show slated for June, an all-white two-piece decorated in the style of Catholic stained glass pieces.
Abloh wore the suit with a sample of his “UNC” Air Jordan 1s, which are rumored to drop this June.
Every year, the Met Gala celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and guests are expected to match their fashion choices accordingly.
This year’s Met Gala theme is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” exploring fashion’s relationship with the Catholic church. Designs from Coco Chanel, John Galliano, Cristóbal Balenciaga, and 40 pieces on loan from the Vatican will be showcased.
