Model: Runner 4D
Key Features: A Primeknit upper in pure black features ultra-resistant eye stays and three stripes of cording that are meant to lock the feet in place and double as adidas branding. The upper rests on the revolutionary 4D futurecraft midsole seen on other, highly sought-after adidas models.
Release Date: September 7
Price: $600 / €500 / £450
Buy: Y-3 online, Y-3 flagship stores, and select retailers TBC
Editor’s Notes: Following the initial release of the Y-3 Runner 4D in a light grey colorway in February, the brand is set to release a black version of the same sneaker.
The Runner 4D features Carbon and adidas’s 4D sole unit, which was previously used in Futurecraft releases like the highly-limited Futurecraft 4D. Created in collaboration with American firm Carbon, the sole unit is constructed with Digital Light Synthesis, which uses digital light projection, oxygen-permeable optics, and programmable liquid resins to generate high performance, durable polymeric products.
The black Runner 4D will only be available at Y-3 flagship stores and online, as well as select retailers, so expect this release to be highly limited.
