WHAT IS GANNI?

GANNI is a Danish ready-to-wear brand, founded by gallerist Frans Truelsen in 2000. It was initially a cashmere brand but later expanded in 2009 to other clothing items.

IS GANNI A LUXURY BRAND?

GANNI is a ready-to-wear brand, often considered "affordable luxury” as with most items priced under $1,000.

IS GANNI GOOD QUALITY?

Yes, GANNI tends to have good quality items especially considering its prices being more affordable for a luxury brand. It is not a fast fashion company and aims to maintain its goals of sustainability and quality while still maintaining a ready-to-wear status. Its items are 100% certified organic, recycled, or proven lower carbon impact.

IS GANNI ETHICAL?

GANNI is consistently committed to being honest about its responsibility as a fashion brand, stating that it aims to minimize its "social and environmental impact across the entire business." Not only does it share their annual responsibility report since 2019, but GANNI's products are also traced from stages 1-4 of the Supply Chain, along with many other impressive initiatives.

HOW IS GANNI PRONOUNCED?

The brand GANNI is pronounced GHA-NEE, listen here.

DOES GANNI RUN SMALL?

GANNI runs true to size across all items.  Their dresses tend to sit more relaxed in fit, so if you’re looking for a tighter fit, it is recommended to go down a size. GANNI Boots tend to also be fit more comfortably, however still need to be broken in a little.

2000

GANNI was founded in 2000 by Frans Truelsen and his wife Ditte Reffstrup as a cashmere brand.

2009

The brand underwent a transformation when Ditte Reffstrup took over as the creative director and Nicolaj Reffstrup as CEO. The focus shifted from cashmere to a broader range of contemporary and ready-to-wear designs.

2010s

GANNI gained popularity for its bold prints, bright colors, and unique designs as well as became known for its modern and feminine aesthetic.

2015

GANNI opened its first flagship store in Copenhagen.

2019

GANNI opened its first flagship store in the United States in SOHO, New York and LA, California.

2020

GANNI opened its first flagship store in Berlin, Germany. The brand also continued to focus on sustainability, launching initiatives such as the "GANNI Lab," which explored innovative and eco-friendly materials.

2022

GANNI committed to working directly with suppliers to invest in ways to mitigate carbon emissions

2023

GANNI committed to eliminate its use of virgin leather for its handbags, shoes and other leather pieces. The brand aimed to do this by shifting towards plant-based alternative for their collection it uses grape skin derived from winemaking, orange and cacti waste, and other more sustainable materials as an alternative to leather.
