Tune in and turn up

Fresh off his recent Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, Chance the Rapper’s musical stylings have now been fused with fellow Chicago creative (and mentor), Kanye West, for the aptly-titled Chance the Dropout mixtape courtesy of DJ Critical Hype and DJ Clyde.

“I love Chance as an artist and Kanye is one of the best producers of all time,” Critical Hype told Pigeons and Planes. “They are both from Chicago and Chance is always talking about how big of an influence Kanye was and is. It seemed like a match made in heaven and a great way to bridge the gap of a new and older Chicago artist.”

Spanning 23 tracks — with highlights including Chance’s verse on “Ultralight Beam” over Dilated People’s “This Way” — the mixtape also gets a further boost of authenticity thanks to cover art from Ian Klarer, who has handled artistic duties for Run the Jewels in the past.
