2019 seems to be ending on a good note for moviegoers. First, Joker, then The Irishman, and now 1917. The epic war drama puts viewers front and center of World War 1. Directed by Oscar-winning director, Sam Mendes, the film follows two young British soldiers, who are given a seemingly impossible mission.

In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers— their own brother among them. Many scenes look to be shot in one continuous motion delivering ground-breaking visuals and deep intensity. 1917 is already shaping up to be a massive war epic that is giving us Saving Private Ryan and Dunkirk quality.

Universal Pictures will release the film domestically in limited release on December 25, 2019 and wide on January 10, 2020. Watch the trailer above.
