ADER Error

ADER Error's wanton deconstruction of garment design translates pretty naturally to next-level footwear, like its previous PUMA collaborations. A new season means a new partner, however, and ADER is aligned with Camper for Spring/Summer 2021, concocting a rich assortment of appropriately out-there sneakers and shoes, accompanied by wearables and some suitably strange accessories.

With Camper's Peu outsole as a base, ADER Error ran with the notion of "The Lost Origin," delivering clunky footwear ragged with intentional "imperfections" as if they've been uncovered by footwear archeologists. For instance, two black or white trainers are replete with shorn uppers, misplaced tags, and wonky stitches that wrap around the shoe, while a German army trainer-inspired sneaker is finished with warped heel tab and ripped suede panels. There's also a timely pair of loafers, perfectly suited to align with the styles of the summer, anchored by the same imposing XL ExtraLight outsole as the other models.

"Collaborating with a brand [of Camper's stature] was the natural choice for us," ADER Error said over email. "['The Lost Origin'] follows the creative direction/design process of ADER Error’s own brand philosophy. We tried to create something new by reinterpreting and re-editing reality, not from vague things. [The shapes] were born [from] a re-editing technique that added ADER Error's wit to design inspiration from our daily life, such as penny [loafers] and German-style sneakers."

The kicks are accompanied by light beige apparel laden with inverted logos, a script-flipping touch that mirrors the haphazard seams seen on the sneakers. There's also a reshaped militaristic bag, warped socks, and even a coin-holding keychain, but those aren't even the nuttiest accessory. Camper and ADER cooked up a treaded shoe cover that can be slipped and strapped atop any of the collaborative shoes to lend additional grip or at least a boost of visual intrigue.

Beginning June 22, shop the collaborative range on Camper's web store, ADER Error's website, and at select stockists like Selfridges.
