High-street stalwart Topman announce the addition of Japanese selvedge to its already sizeable denim offering. Selecting a prestigious name to kick off the project, the global retailer heads straight for one of Japan's oldest textile manufacturers and the first to specialize in natural indigo denim, Kurabo in Kojima. Producers for the likes of Edwin, Taylor Stitch and 3x1, Topman finds itself in impressive company, Kurabo described as "the birthplace of Japanese selvedge denim." A product usually accompanied by a hefty price tag, the store hope their less challenging pricing will appeal to first time selvedge wearers whilst offering a tempting proposition to more knowledgeable buyers.

Three pieces will launch the line, all in a summer appropriate 12oz weight: two styles of slim-fit jean (£75) giving a choice of a raw or pre-faded "worn vintage" finish, with a workwear-inspired jean jacket (£85) offering an alternative to the traditional trucker. Kurabo denim famed for its durability and unique wear pattern thanks to the use of natural dyes, Topman tap into the crowded Japanese denim market with a wallet-friendly collection using the best fabrics on the market. Available online soon.
