Editor’s Notes: A$AP Nast and Converse have come together for another collaboration following their mid-20th-century furniture-inspired drop in late 2017. This time, the Harlem rapper has chosen to rework the Jack Purcell Chukka Mid, as well as drop a range of sweats taking inspiration from the brand’s history.
The sneaker takes cues from the original Jack Purcell Ox and extends the canvas upper to a mid-top. Nast has also extended the rubber foxing from the midsole, giving the upper more support and durability.
“The silhouette is functional, durable, it’s intriguing,” says Nast. “I wanted to craft a style that could be worn every day.”
The Jack Purcell was first released as a badminton shoe in 1935, before being adopted as a lifestyle shoe in the ’60s.
The Converse x A$AP Nast capsule also includes two crew sweatshirts, matching crews sweatpants and a set of vintage wordmark T-shirts that feature a printed “JP” graphic (as in, Jack Purcell) on the front panel, and words Nast considers integral to Converse’s place in culture listed on the back panel.
Check out both colorways and the wider collection above and look for the drop on March 22.
