Editor’s Notes: After unveiling its first official collector’s item with a moon landing figurine earlier this month, Billionaire Boys Club has stepped back in time once more with its SS19 collection. Channeling 1950s auto club nostalgia, the range is firmly rooted in mid-century Americana. From washed denim and utility shirts, to mechanic jackets and flannels, the collection truly embraces the era’s style.

Motorheads will notice recurrent references to the ‘Custom Rockets’ design, a repeat print of vintage-style automobiles from the 1950-1960s. Classic car club jackets draw design and styling inspiration from the National Hot Rod Association. Styles are layered with late 20th century graphics, and quintessential Americana patterns repeat throughout, and are reconstructed as a ‘Digi Check’ pattern on hoodies, pants and a reversible vest.

Like the American pastime of car-customization, BBC’s SS19 collection is an amalgam of constituent parts, pulled from various periods to create an entirely new aesthetic object that is, nevertheless, entirely American and deeply nostalgic.
