Editor’s Notes: Paris Fashion Week’s biggest footwear winner was undoubtedly Nike. After the debut of several new silhouettes at Virgil Abloh’s OFF-WHITE show, the Swoosh’s latest collaboration with COMME des GARÇONS also got its grand unveiling on the runway.
COMME des GARÇONS’ FW18 show gave us the CdG x Nike ACG Mowabb, and now Paris Fashion Week SS19 has brought with it a CdG x Nike Shox.
The Shox was most popular in the early ’00s, curiously being spotted with regularity on the feet of Hugh Laurie’s cranky character in the TV show House, M.D., but the line was discontinued as Nike focused on other technologies. Recently, however, the brand announced that the model is to make a comeback. The COMME des GARÇONS collab is no doubt part of a push to get people talking about Shox again.
Last year, Highsnobiety predicted a Shox comeback due to the growing popularity of chunky, technical runners. The Shox, of course, is the epitome of that.
