Editor’s Notes: After tapping electronic music producer Loco Dice on a standout motocross-inspired capsule, Amsterdam’s Daily Paper is back with its FW18 “Unite” collection.
Aiming to capture the spirit of a modern day explorer in its campaign, the brand tapped South African photographer, Gabrielle Kannemeyer, and documented the vastness of the South African landscape that is perfectly juxtaposed against the new offerings like various outerwear, shirts, pants and more — draped in bold colors and patterns. Daily Paper also featured Mozambican-South African musician/artist Carla Fonseca in the visuals, to epitomize the label’s central theme.
Furthermore, the campaign is a fashionable homage to the young “black cowboys” of the Namaqua, who are noted to having the “ever-curious, border-less spirit of true pioneers.” According to Daily Paper’s designers, the Namaqua’s signature work is not always “celebrated in media and beyond,” and this collection puts the spotlight on them, as well as to inspire like-minded communities worldwide.
