Designer: Dries Van Noten
Location: Paris, France
Season: Spring/Summer 2018
Key Pieces: Unstructured blazers, voluminous trousers, boxy button-down camouflage resort shirts, and an embroidered denim trucker.
Editor’s Notes: At first glance, it's easy to typify Dries Van Noten's army-toned take on business casual wear as another iteration of officecore. The show was held inside a parking garage on Rue Béranger, the show was styled after the now-empty offices of French newspaper Libération, and the models walked past rows of files and books, while the invite itself featured a PC that looked ready to process spreadsheets.
But Dries' trademark penchant for patterns and playful proportions shone through embroidered outerwear like denim jackets and velvet golf jackets, as well as resort-ready camp shirts rendered in silky camouflage. Other than that, it was business as usual.
