Elon Musk turned up in an unlikely place over the weekend: HBO’s Westworld panel, held in Austin at SXSW. While there, he and show-creator Jonathan Nolan unveiled a special project the two of them had been cooking up. Namely, an epic trailer for SpaceX’s recent Falcon Heavy rocket launch. Watch it above.
Set to David Bowie’s “Starman” (of course), the trailer is a comprehensive collection of footage surrounding the rocket’s production and eventual launch. Speaking on the tone of inspiration they were hoping to strike, Musk said that “Life cannot just be about solving one miserable problem after another. That cannot be the only thing. There need to be things that inspire you, that make you glad to wake up in the morning and be part of humanity.”
“It’s not a trailer for a movie. It’s not a trailer for a TV show,” finished Nolan. “What we’re hoping this is is the trailer for one part of the next chapter of the human story.”
Watch footage of the initial launch below, and let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments.
And in other news, it might not be no rocket, but these gadgets from Urban Outfitters are pretty nifty.
