More than 200 new emojis are on the way for 2021, the majority of which will bring new skin tone variations to the couples emojis. The forthcoming update was recently announced by volunteer organization Unicode Consortium and confirmed by Emojipedia, as more inclusive imagery continues to be added to the ever-expanding emoji lineup.

Emoji 13.1, as the update is called, features 217 new emojis in total, with 200 being reserved for the Couple with Heart and Couples Kiss graphics. The emojis will provide interracial and minority couples with more options that better represent themselves.

In addition to the couples emojis, the update also introduces Face Exhaling, Face with Spiral Eyes, Face in Clouds, Mending Heart, Heart on Fire, Man with Beard, and Woman with Beard.

According to Unicode, the new emojis will likely begin appearing on devices in the coming months. You can get a closer look at sample images from the update by visiting Emojipedia.
