Amsterdam's homegrown doyens of high-quality sneakers, Filling Pieces, celebrate six years in the business with a special Anniversary 'Paramaribo Laser' Pack centering on their trademark Low Top silhouette. Available in red, white or black, the 'Paramaribo Laser' pack drops Friday, October 9, as an online exclusive.
Trading off their signature, over-sized leather sneakers, the brand's uncompromisingly independent approach and their focus on, and innovative use of, high-quality materials has seen Filling Pieces continue to rise since they first began in 2009. Always an influencer in the 'Dam's local scene, Filling Pieces continue to be, not only a European, but a significant global presence in the international sneaker game. One of the first to forge a bridge between the 'high' and 'street' fashion worlds, Filling Pieces are among a handful of global brands that have pretty much eradicated the distinction.
As the halcyon days of sneaker and streetwear culture continue, the 'Paramaribo Laser' Pack looks to the founder, Guillaume Philibert, and his roots for inspiration and reflection. The entirety of the Low Top's leather upper features intricate laser etching – almost reminiscent of tattoo ink – with the near-Caribbean coat of arms of Surinam, Philibert's South American homeland, placed front-and-center on the toe cap. The pack's name, Paramaribo, honors the country's capital.
"I'm very proud that I've reached a position which allows me to experiment, be creative and make a product that is influenced by my roots," explained Philibert. "It humbles me to see that our work is supported and appreciated by so many people from all around the world."
To celebrate their success, Filling Pieces will host an invite-only party somewhere in Amsterdam on the day the sneakers are released: Friday, October 9. However, for Highsnobiety readers, they're offering the chance to win the entire pack.
To enter:
1. Follow @fillingpieces and @highsnobiety on Instagram. 2. Like our photo featuring Filling Pieces' 'Paramaribo Laser' Pack. 3. Regram the photo with the hashtag #fillingpieces and your sneaker size.
Competition closes Midnight, October 14, 2015.
