Speaking to The FADER, Future revealed that the album’s title came from a nickname his late Freebandz associate OG Double D gave to him. “It’s probably one of those personas that resonates towards me. It just sit with me more, and it define me in a lot of ways,” he told the magazine.

The hype for Future’s follow-up to 2017’s Hndrxx has been steadily building. Before the album dropped, Future released a full-length documentary with the same name, and released The WIZRD merch for pre-order.
