Editor’s Notes: They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so perhaps ASICS should take Givenchy’s TK-MX sneakers as a compliment.

The French luxury house today revealed six colorways of its all-new TK-MX sneaker, which looks remarkably similar to, well, basically any ASICS shoe — just a bit bigger.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Matthew M. Williams is copying ASICS (stay out of my bloody emails!), they’re just pretty alike, is all.

The TK-MX, of course, carries the distinctive notes we’ve come to expect from the designer throughout his Givenchy tenure, with high-frequency textures, print and rubber accents, and mesh-like motifs resulting in the busy silhouette.

Inspired by the shape and design of Givenchy’s cult TK-360, the TK-MX incorporates visual cues from the world of running footwear, with lightweight techy materials like mesh and synthetic leather, all of which comes together to form a pretty mad upper.

For Matthew M. Williams, 2023 has started off a little sneaker heavy, not least after he confirmed he was working with Nike on a new Air Force 1 collaboration last month.

But when it comes to luxury sneakers, things can often go very wrong. Although in this case, not for Givenchy and Matthew M. Williams, even if they are a little ASICS-esque.
