Brand: Gucci x Dover Street Market

Season: FW19

Key Pieces: Alessandro Michele revels in vintage silhouettes as part of Gucci’s exclusive Dover Street Market collection. Standouts include the white and emerald green bomber featuring oversized Gucci branding and a ’60s-style orange quilted parka with subtle Gucci patterning.

Editor’s Notes: Gucci's exclusive and limited edition collection for Dover Street Market concentrates on the Italian fashion house's legacy in patterns and embroidery. As with Gucci's theatrical FW19 collection, creative director Alessandro Michele continues to draw most of his inspiration from the brand’s extensive archive. In 2015, he told Vogue, “I’m not interested in the future — it doesn’t exist yet — but I’m really interested in the past and the contemporary.”

Michele tackles these ideas with both humor and reverence, with ready-to-wear pieces and accessories featuring Gucci's signature interlocking G design, as well as a selection of updated slogans. Elsewhere, classic silhouettes and patterns are given novel applications and punk-inspired interpretations.

The collection is scheduled to drop soon, so stay tuned for pricing and release details as they emerge.
