Following the recent tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Gucci has pledged to donate $500,000 USD to an upcoming gun control march that will be taking place in Washington next month, WWD reports.
In speaking on the horrific event that saw 17 people murdered on February 14, Gucci issued a statement to the publication: “We stand with March for Our Lives and the fearless students across the country who demand that their lives and safety become a priority. We have all been directly or indirectly impacted by these senseless tragedies."
Survivors of the Parkland, Florida shooting are organizing the event which is expected to bring as many as 500,000 attendees, The Washington Post notes.
“I am truly moved by the courage of these students,” Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele told WWD. “My love is with them and it will be next to them on March 24. I am standing with March for Our Lives and the strong young women and men across the United States who are fighting for their generation and those to come.”
As WWD points out, Gucci has long since come to the aid of various causes and social injustices, with the forthcoming March for Our Lives accounting for yet another example.
