Heatwave is a new series that gives readers our unfiltered opinions on the best (and worst) of this week’s sneaker releases.

The sneaker release calendar is unpredictable like the weather. Some kicks are pure heat, while others deserve to be left out in the cold. Sifting through the mass isn’t easy. That’s where Heatwave comes in. Think of me as your metaphorical weather man, providing an overview of the upcoming drops. As Highsnobiety’s chief sneaker meteorologist, I’ll judge the week’s notable releases on their “Heatwave Rating” — HTR for short — which is, from worst to best: glacial, cold, lukewarm, hot, and scorching.

This week is a very hot affair, thanks to scorchers from Stüssy x Nike and Casablanca x New Balance. Things cool off a little with efforts from ASICS, Nike, and Saucony, but Sneakersnstuff is there to ensure we end the week on a high.

Read on for this week’s sneaker weather forecast.

Stüssy x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2

Highsnobiety

HTR: Scorching
Release Date: April 4
Price: $160
Buy: Nike
Editor’s Notes: Though they were technically already released last week, both colorways of the Stüssy x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 are this week’s hottest drop. Whereas previously they were available via Stüssy and DSM only, this week they’re dropping at Nike and a wide range of retailers. I can’t say much more — look at them! They’re beautiful.

Casablanca x New Balance 327

Highsnobiety

HTR: Scorching
Release Date: April 4
Price: TBC
Buy: Casablanca
Editor’s Notes: If there ever was a brand that was the epitome of summer, it’s Parisian newcomer Casablanca — its scorching New Balance collab does not disappoint. Whether you’re going for the zesty orange colorway or the green, you’ll be picking up the shoes of the summer if you decide to pull the trigger on these.

Above The Clouds x ASICS GEL-1090

Highsnobiety

HTR: Lukewarm
Release Date: Available now
Price: $25
Buy: Above The Clouds
Editor’s Notes: Things cool off considerably with Above The Clouds and ASICS’ collaborative GEL-1090, which is by no means a bad shoe, it just can’t compete with the fireball start to the week. The clean, white upper with blue detailing is easy to style and won’t serve you wrong.

Nike Air Jordan 1 “Court Purple”

Highsnobiety

HTR: Lukewarm
Release Date: April 4 (EU), April 11 (US)
Price: $170
Buy: Nike
Editor’s Notes: Nike keeps on pumping out the Air Jordan 1 colorways, and while most are a hit, this court purple colorway falls a little short of the mark, especially with hotter releases to choose from this week.

Saucony x Lapstone & Hammer Courageous Moc

Highsnobiety

HTR: Cold
Release Date: April 4
Price: TBC
Buy: Bodega
Editor’s Notes: The moccasin had its moment, but unfortunately it’s passed, which is why this Saucony x Lapstone & Hammer collaboration just doesn’t do it for me. The black, gray, and brown suede and leather combine quite nicely, and while it’s not my favorite shoe of the week, that doesn’t mean it can’t be yours.

Sneakersnstuff x Vans OG Slip-On & OG Era LX

Highsnobiety

HTR: Hot
Release Date: April 4
Price: TBC
Buy: Sneakersnstuff
Editor’s Notes: Sneakersnstuff ends the week on a high note with this beach-ready and Venice Beach-inspired pack in collaboration with Vans. The pack features everyone’s favorite checkerboard pattern, which has been injected with color as a nod to the ’80s and ’90s. This is definitely a summer rotation must-have.
